Rev.
Ray K. Kistler
The
Rev. Ray K. Kistler, 72, of 1015 Catherine Drive, died at 3:31 p.m.
Tuesday, September 1, 1998, in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.
Born December 13, 1925, in Holyoke, Colorado.
Rev. Kistler was a son of Harrison and Emily C. Erickson Kistler.
He married Doris Grainger July 9, 1957, in Quincy. She survives.
Rev. Kistler was a graduate of Holyoke High
School, received his bachelor of arts degree from Colorado State College
of Education in Greeley, Colorado, and his bachelor of divinity degree
from the University of Chicago. Rev. Kistler was ordained September
9, 1951, in First Christian Church in Greeley.
He served churches in Illinois, Missouri,
Iowa, Idaho and Montana, retiring from the Glasgow United Church of
Christ in Glasgow, Montana in May 1992.
The Kistlers returned to Quincy upon their
retirement. Rev. Kistler was a member of Salem Evangelical United
Church of Christ and the Couples Club and Brotherhood group of Salem
and the Great River Genealogical Society, and had served on the board
of the Montana-Northern Wyoming Conference and the Illinois Conference.
Also surviving are a brother, Ralph Kistler
of Tracy, California; two sisters, Helen Barnes of Mantica, California
and Donna Selby of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews
and cousins, including Shirley Sawyer and her husband, Dr. Edward
Sawyer of Quincy.
Rev. Kistler was preceded in death by his
parents and two brothers, Harry and Clayton Kistler. Cremation rites
were accorded to Rev. Kistler. Memorial graveside services were held
in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Todd Hackman.
The Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
